Senior Area Manager (Luxury Retail) 

Location: France (must be based in France)
Languages: Fluent French & English required (an additional European language is advantageous)

About the Role 

Our Client, a leading Luxury Brand, is seeking an experienced Senior Area Manager to oversee its operations across Southern Europe. This is a pivotal role with responsibility for commercial performance, customer experience, and people leadership across France, Portugal, Italy, and Spain. 

With plans to double the number of stores in the region over the next two years, the successful candidate must bring proven experience in store openings and expansion projects, as well as strong leadership across multi-site and multi-country operations. 

Key Responsibilities 

Leadership & Strategy 

  • Lead, inspire, and support Area and Store Managers and their teams to deliver operational excellence. 
  • Translate global strategy into actionable regional plans focused on revenue growth, customer loyalty, and brand awareness. 
  • Act as a key liaison between the field and global functions including Marketing, Merchandising, HR, Operations, and Technology. 
  • Contribute actively to strategic initiatives and transformation projects. 

Commercial Performance 

  • Manage the P&L across the region and deliver against KPIs including revenue, conversion, ATV, and HR efficiency. 
  • Analyse market and competitive trends to identify growth opportunities. 
  • Deliver innovative local activations, campaigns, and events to drive sales. 
  • Lead the expansion strategy, with direct responsibility for new store openings and relocations. 

Customer Experience 

  • Ensure brand standards are consistently delivered at every customer touchpoint. 
  • Partner with Training and Visual Merchandising to guarantee a luxury retail experience. 
  • Implement initiatives to enhance customer engagement, loyalty, and satisfaction. 

Team Management & Culture 

  • Build and develop high-performing teams through coaching, training, and succession planning. 
  • Partner with HR on recruitment, onboarding, and retention of top talent. 
  • Champion a high-performance, inclusive culture aligned with brand values. 
  • Develop managerial capability of Zone Managers and Store Directors. 

Operations & Compliance 

  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies and external regulations, particularly in jewellery retail. 
  • Oversee inventory, security, and loss prevention. 
  • Support and execute store openings, renovations, and relocations. 
  • Partner with support functions to optimize operations. 

Collaboration & Improvement 

  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Merchandising, Customer Service, and Training teams. 
  • Support change management, digital adoption, and continuous improvement. 
  • Represent the needs of the region in global corporate initiatives. 

Candidate Profile 

  • Significant experience in regional or multi-site leadership within luxury retail, jewellery, or a premium consumer sector. 
  • Track record of managing multi-site managers and driving large teams to success. 
  • Strong background in store openings and expansion projects, ideally across multiple countries. 
  • Strategic vision combined with strong commercial and analytical acumen. 
  • Luxury mindset with deep understanding of high-end customer expectations. 
  • Proven ability to deliver organizational change and transformation. 
  • Fluent in French and English; additional European languages desirable. 
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the region.
